GANDEN was engaged by Seqwater to undertake the detailed design and documentation for remediation of the Canungra Creek embankment and access stairs at the raw water pump station (RWPS) structure located at the Canungra WTP, Canungra, QLD.
The existing creek embankment was extremely steep and sections of the creek bank in the vicinity of the RWPS intake structure had eroded, threatening the integrity of the RWPS intake structure. The existing access stairs had been undermined and required replacement.
GANDEN’s design solution was based on constructability constraint considerations imposed by the steep embankments and limited site access. Hydrological and geotechnical investigation and assessment was required to determine design parameters. Slip circle analysis was undertaken to confirm slope stability requirements. GANDEN designed a new structural steel access stairway with screw piers to replace the dilapidated stairway, and gabion retaining walls and reno mattresses for creek bed rehabilitation.
